Quad Cities "GO SOLAR" Campaign Launch
We are excited to announce that this campaign, led by Solar United Neighbors, launched on March 15. The website, see SUN, is now live. Our kick-off session is this Wednesday!!
We hope to see you there. Remember, this unique opportunity is open to residents, small businesses, and churches in the Quad Cities area. Talk this up in your neighborhoods with your networks. SUN Program Director Adrian Keller will be present to provide an overview and answer questions. This initiative is an excellent example of how, together, we can take climate action in our communities. The Quad Cities Climate Profile and the Local Climate Actions report, just released in February, set the foundation for this work. (See the Quad Cities Climate Action Hub).
Prescott General Plan
As we reported last month, the Prescott General Plan is underway. Their website is now "live" - 2025 General Plan. Moreover, the City and the General Plan Review Committee want citizen input. They have a survey that includes a number of topical areas that are very important to the community and our newsletter followers, including several energy-related questions. Here is the link to fill out the survey. We encourage you to take the time to fill out the survey. There is also an open-ended comment section. We encourage you to write a comment or two about following up on the Climate Profile and the Local Climate Action Options report by integrating some of the proposed climate strategies into the General Plan.
In addition, Dr. Greg Murray and Patrick Grady presented both reports to the General Plan Review Committee on March 8. You can watch the recorded presentation here. Some interesting exchanges on the science behind climate change. Dr. Murray's responses were very thoughtful and persuasive. We ended the PowerPoint presentation with the following recommendations:
1. Consider adding a new element on energy use
2. Incorporate climate adaptation strategies from QC Climate Profile and Local Climate Adaptations report into various elements of General Plan, as appropriate
3. Where can key findings and projections from the QC Climate Profile best be used to strengthen the General Plan?
Food for thought! We plan on providing some follow-up written comments.
